stop music piracy

THE RiSA ANTI-PIRACY UNIT (RAPU)

RiSA's Anti-Piracy Unit (RAPU) is made up of extensively and stringently trained ex-Police officials from the Commercial Crime, Organised Crime, Narcotics, Murder & Robbery and Legal Services Units of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The combined experience of the team, led by unit head, Braam Schoeman, doesn't only relate to the investigation of commercial and organised crime but also to dealing with customs related issues.

The RAPU is logistically equipped to deal with any music piracy case anywhere in the country and the unit is represented in most of the major cities of South Africa.

Schoeman has 14 years legal and litigation experience, the last five of which focused solely on anti-piracy and counterfeiting matters. Cases are investigated by the Unit with the sole purpose of obtaining guilty convictions against people accused of music piracy. The Unit also has an awareness and education raising mandate and regularly conducts workshops with prosecutors and members of the SAPS as well as engage with artists (performers) and the public at different hosted public events.
