06.19.09 Police raid illegal uploaders at university in Gdansk
Police raided several student dormitories yesterday in the northern Polish city of Gdansk. Officers confiscated 20 PCs and laptops as well as more than 800 data carrying units. All the equipment is suspected to have been used to illegally distribute files containing copyright-infringing music, film and software. The seized data will now be subjected to expert examination. The police action was conducted with the approval of the university authorities. If found guilty, the perpetrators could face up to five years' imprisonment.
