Information was received that an unauthorised album called “Sister Bertinah” was released which contained previously released sound recordings and unreleased sound recordings which were apparently stolen. According to the sources this was an unauthorised album. A sting operation was set up with the Organised Crime Unit of the Police and 500 cassettes and 500 CD's were bought of this album. The suspect from whom the cassettes and CD's were bought was confronted with his illegal activities and he led the Police to a manufacturing plant where more cassettes and CD's of the same album were found. The suspect at the manufacturing plant furnished the Police with the information as to who gave him the mandate to manufacture the album and this information was followed up to the next suspects house where 7 more boxes of CD's were found of the album. The person who produced the album was then contacted and a meeting was set up at RiSA the next morning between all the relevant parties and the Police. The main suspect was confronted and agreed to the criminal steps to be instituted against him. The case was also discussed with a prosecutor who agreed to an Admission of Guilt fine. |
