BACK GROUND OF CASE:

Information was received from an informant that the suspect was selling counterfeit music and movie DVD's. A test purchase was done and a complaint affidavit of 60 typed pages filed. The suspect's premises was raided by the Organised Crime Unit (Pretoria) assisted by the Public Order Policing Unit of the Police. A search of the premises revealed 1 300 counterfeit music DVD's. The suspect was arrested and prosecuted by the Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria. This was the first case dealt with by the newly established Anti-Piracy Unit of RiSA.
