AWARENESS & EDUCATION
Creating awareness concerning enforcement efforts and the education of people and organisations in relation to music piracy, are activities regularly undertaken by RAPU.
Not only the public, but also educational and corporate institutions are targeted. The RiSA Anti-Piracy Unit strives to reach these audiences in the following ways:
- Through attending public events and having stalls there, for instance, the Royal Show in Pietermaritzburg, ABSA Soweto festival, KKNK (Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees), Aardklop, Awesome Africa, etc.
- Through investigative television programs like Carte Blance and Special Assignment, etc.
- Through interviews with radio stations like 702, RSG, Lotus FM, etc.
- Through educational magazines for school pupils like Proverto.
- Newspaper articles in Sowetan, Beeld, Star, etc.
- Articles in magazines like Huisgenoot/You, Keur, etc.
- Press releases.
- Presentations to social forums like the Rotary Club, etc.
Annual workshops are also held where the RiSA Anti-Piracy Unit join hands and share knowledge and experience with the South African Police Service, the National Prosecuting Authority and the South African Revenue Service: Customs & Excise.
